Knee joint osteo-arthritis, which is caused due to a faulty lifestyle, irregular dietary habits, indisciplined living, overstress, pollution, improper physical activity and wrong footwear has become a dominant disease of the modern day life.
This disease with no permanent cure needs good management to ensure unhindered living for the sufferer.
“Holistic medication, a way of improving the interactivity of the body with the environment around provides a strong base for the management of this disease,” said Dr. Pankaj Bharti.
Addressing the media about this problem, Dr. Bharti, a holistic physician, said, “this problem can be addressed only symptomatically through drugs. The disease progresses with the age and finally comes a stage where drugs and other treatment cannot provide any relief. In such a stage patients are advised total knee replacement. Structural deformity takes place decreasing the space between the knee joints, bowlegs deformity along with imbalance in the muscles leading to muscle cramps.”
“Most of the patients deny going for surgical interventions because of their limited efficacy and results. The cost of treatment is yet another factor and this is where the need of holistic science creeps in for alleviating the pain.”
He further added, “Holistic treatment offers non-surgical management of such patients for correcting the deformity. The patient not only leads a pain-free and a disability-free life but is also saved from the botheration of undergoing total knee replacement. In the management of osteo-arthritis the supporting tissue of the joints i.e. ligaments, tendons and muscles, chronic tension is released, realignment of boneforming joints takes place and the space between the bones is corrected.”
The treatment protocol is very easy to follow after the initial training and treatment in the hospital.
Discussing one of the major cases, Dr. Bharti introduced Amrita Tandon. Aged 50 years she was suffering from severe osteo-arthritis and was also advised total knee replacement.
She underwent this programme for 25 days in the hospital and now is leading an absolutely pain-free life. She is also doing all household jobs now.
Another patient, Chandrakanta (66), who was suffering from severe arthritis with bow-legs deformity and collapsed knee spaces also got complete relief through this approach.
She is not only healty but she has resumed her morning walk too.
Dr. Bharti said that the treatment was unique in its approach. It was a great hope for the patients of musculo-skeletal deformities.
